We’ve given you the hairstyle trend for Autumn 2019, Messy Wavy Hair, next up we share with you the hair colour trends for Autumn 2019.
Hair colour trends shift with the seasons; the temperature changes, as does our wardrobe. Summer is all sun-kissed highlights, while Autumn leans more towards warm auburn tones.
We’ve brought in the big-gun to help us with this Autumn’s colour trends, our Salon Development Manager, Josh.
Josh, tell us a little bit about yourself, and what it is you do as the Price Attack Salon Development Manager.
I started my hairdressing apprenticeship when I was 24, which is considered as a late start! My trainer throughout my apprenticeship was an absolute mentor and inspired me to get into training and development. I started out as a Colour Technician, then moving into Retail Brand Trainer, to National Education, Sales and now in Training Management as the Salon Development Manager at Price Attack. The hair salon industry has two general key factors, creativity and service. My role at Price Attack is to ensure both are of a high quality standard and to nurture the creativity of our professional stylists.
What is it you love about the hairdressing industry?
The thrill is seeing the joy in a client when you finished your work, which is still the same in what I do now; helping people in the industry strive to success, is my success.
What’s your always go-to hair product?
Always a great shampoo, or even better a peppermint shampoo to stimulate blood flow and create strong hair growth. Start with a great foundation! Juuce Peppermint Shampoo is blended with invigorating natural botanicals and oils which treat the hair and invigorate the scalp making them healthier, cleaner and stronger.
So Josh tell us, what are the hair colour trends for Autumn 2019?
Mocha variants that offer a balanced combination of warm and cool reflects. There’s never been a better time to be brunette! The colour adds dimension, versatility and unexpected accents with dark roots. Plus there’s so many colour options from red mochas, warm mochas to violet mochas.
Which one’s your favourite hair colour trend for Autumn 2019?
The one that solves a common problem, the rich multi-tonal mocha, perfect for grey coverage. When choosing the best colour for grey coverage, it must be balanced, neutral hair colour blend that contains the three primary colours – red, yellow and blue. If any of these primaries aren’t present in the hair colour, the results will be too dull, too ash or too bright.
What’s one thing everyone should know before colouring their hair?
When colouring hair, remember permanent hair colour contains more ammonia, and it opens the hair cuticle to allow hair colour to penetrate deeply. This enables it to cover hair colour more completely and more permanently. It will not fade away like a demi-permanent hair colour. A demi-permanent hair colour blending with a low ammonia deposits hair colour and allows the natural hair colour to remain the same whilst toning hair.
What’s the one piece of advice you recommend to anyone who’s looking to colour their hair?
See a professional. Our salon stylists offer quality professional advice. You’ll get a better result and colour may last longer. Think of it as an investment in yourself and get great value by utilising one of our great value hair salon packages.
What’s your advice on the best way to protect and maintain colour?
Use a colour protect shampoo. It basically antioxidizes the hair. Biolage ColorLast Shampoo gently cleanses, detangles and prolongs colour vibrancy, leaving coloured hair looking soft and shiny.
